Long Dog Mystery Sampler progress - Week 1

Here's my progress on the Long Dog Mystery Sampler. The photo doesn't do this piece justice, the colours are so pretty in real life. I hope to keep up with the installments, and not get too far behind as it is a huge piece at 149 stitches wide by 260 stitches tall!

Blimmin Blogger

Fickle, annoying, un-fun... anyone else having trouble with Blogger at present? I have a Wordpress blog I created the other week, but I'm loathe to change at present because I'd rather stay with Blogger. It is great, when it is working 100%. OH has pretty much determined it's nothing to do with my laptop, and is all to do with Blogger itself.

My technical problems are responsible for yesterday's post of Meg, with no text. Heaven knows how it published, when it wouldn't even let me upload!!?

Anyway, since I can't post any photos here is a link to my Webshots, with my first WIP of Long Dog's Mystery Sampler (from The Gift of Stitching). I started it last night, and am really enjoying it so far.

I had a really great day yesterday - first of all my Gingher scissors I bought from Carol and Mike arrived. They are Cheetah print, and just gorgeous. Quite a different feel than my Fiskars, and they do a great job.

Then my OH, who hates shopping, felt like going shopping (wippeee). We had just spent quite a bit on some new clothes when we saw this outdoor table set - with 50% off. It was a bargain we just could simply not walk past (especially since we've talked about getting an outdoor table set for nearly 3 years). As you can see from the photo, even the cats love it! Now, if only the sun would shine...

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I have a day left of mine because tomorrow is Wellington Anniversary Day. Unless the sun makes an appearance (which is highly unlikely) I think I'll just continue with the Mystery Sampler and see if I can make some good progress before part two comes out.

Comet McNaught and a half naked All Black larrikin

My OH and my younger sister were standing in our backyard tonight discussing a small fire on the distant hill where my other sister lives. I was later looking at photos of Comet McNaught and showed them a stunning photo of it over the Sydney skyline (below)... and duhhhh... that was what they had been looking at! Tomorrow night, I'm gonna be out there looking - I get a real kick out of that kind of thing.

While I have no photos to share just yet, I have been stitching on 'Bee Pinkeep' by Little House Needleworks from the latest issue of The Gift of Stitching. Plus yesterday I bought the fabric for the Long Dog Mystery Sampler. I see my subscription is due to be renewed in the next two weeks, so I must do this so I don't miss out on the next three parts! :0) I was out buying the threads I didn't have to start this today, when I saw a half naked All Black drive through a red light. Tut tut.

It's a long weekend for my part of the country this weekend, yipppeee. Hope you have a good one and that if you're reading this from the UK, Europe and USA that the weather is starting to improve for you all.

I haven't done any stitching since I finished Lavender Hill. Instead, this week I was working on creating a new blog, to see if I could fix my problem of not being able to comment on a number of blogs. It doesn't seem to have worked, so I may have to call upon OH to see if he can work it out. Sometimes it's all just too technical!

I paid the deposit on our trip to Australia on Friday. We'll spend a few days in Brisbane (with Australia Zoo being our main priority) and then the remainder of our time will be sightseeing and relaxing at a resort in tropical Cairns. Roll on August!

Hopefully I'll be back soon with a stitching update.

Everything purple (and chart trade, anyone?)

I have my first finish for 2007 - Lavender Hill by Little House Needleworks. It was stitched on 32 count 'Rose Petals' fabric from Countrystitch. I waited until today to take a photo to see if I could capture the colour of the fabric better in the daylight, but it is far more subtle and pretty than what it looks in this photo.

Since I've decided to go purple today, here are a couple of my purple pansies. Wellington is having the coldest summer in 70 years, so it is amazing that anything is flowering at all really. Our native flaxes which usually flower and bring the Tuis (native bird) to our kitchen window haven't flowered at all this year. Booooo!

Since I changed my blog over to the new Blogger I've been unable to comment on Carol's blog. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? (Anyway Carol, I'm pleased to read that Angus is home and recovering and belated congratulations on finishing Mystery IX - it is stunning!).

I plan on listing a few charts (Drawn Thread, Little House Needleworks etc) I would like to trade soon, if anyone is interested please feel free to check back.
